Nutrition and Dietetics
The Department provides comprehensive dietary counseling services to both in-patients and out-patients. It works closely with doctors and nurses to ensure holistic and effective care.
Services:
- Receives referrals from physicians across all specialties
- Attends to patients of all ages and genders
- Provides evidence-based nutritional knowledge and dietetic skills
Core Objective: To promote health and prevent disease through the application of evidence-based nutritional knowledge and dietetic skills, aimed at improving overall well-being.
The Department comprises the following units:
Nutrition Unit:
- Offers dietary counseling
- Follow-up sessions
- Health talks
- Special focus during antenatal clinic days
- Provides nutritional advice to in-patients throughout the hospital
Dietetics Unit:
- Manages patients with specific dietary needs including:
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Pregnancy
- Lactation
- Malnutrition
- Operates a dietetic kitchen that prepares therapeutic meals (such as pap formulations)
- Conducts food demonstrations for patients and their caregivers
Catering Unit:
- Provides daily meal services to in-patients
- Extends meal services to out-patients who are referred to the department for nutritional care, as required
