The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Jalingo has reaffirmed its leading role in tackling breast cancer, calling for stronger collaboration among government, health institutions, and civil society. The call was made during the Taraba Pinktober 2025 Mega Rally and Town Hall Meeting, organized by the Nigeria Cancer Society (Taraba Chapter) in partnership with the Cancer Consciousness Initiative (CCI).
Represented by Dr. Suleiman Abubakar Kirim, the Medical Director, Dr. Aisha Shehu Adamu, highlighted FMC Jalingo’s position as a pilot site for CCI’s Tele-Oncology Programme—an innovation that improves access to specialist cancer care for underserved communities.
Delivering a lecture on Tele-Oncology, Dr. Hannatu Ayuba Usman, Consultant Oncologist at the National Hospital Abuja, praised FMC Jalingo’s management for their unwavering support. She described the Tele-Oncology Hub as a lifeline that offers renewed hope to cancer patients, particularly in underserved communities.

The event featured expert panel discussions on regular screening, early diagnosis, and the importance of consistent follow-up care.

Stakeholders in attendance included senior health professionals, traditional rulers, and community leaders such as Prof. A. Madachi (CMD, FUTH Wukari), Dr. Mustapha (CMAC Specialist Hospital Jalingo) representing the CMD, Dr. A. Maiangwa, and Taraba State Head of Service Dr. Ahmed H. Kara represented by Mrs. H.
